If there is an odd number of pairs, a bye-pair will be used. This bye-pair may be a volunteer pair not originally entered in the team level, or one pair may run a second time. If a pair runs a second time, it must run a different section of the course than it ran previously and is not eligible to qualify on the second run.
Dog/handler pair 1 will wait at the Start while Pair 2 proceeds to Station 11. The ring steward will bring the leash from the start to Station 10 for Pair 1. This will be done before the beginning of the run.
Pair 2 may carry their leash in a concealed manner to the finish as they complete stations 11 through 20, may leave a second leash at the Finish sign, or may wait at the Finish sign for a steward to bring them their leash.
17 Bye dog paired in a Novice Team may compete for their Advanced Team title at the same trial if they have their Advanced title. Bye dogs paired in an Advanced Team may be competing for their Excellent Team at the same trial if they have their Excellent title. Bye dogs competing in Excellent Team may be competing for their Versatility team at the same trial if they have their Versatility title. Bye dogs competing in Versatility Team may be competing for their Versatility Excellent team at the same trial if they have their Versatility Excellent title.
18 Should the BYE dog achieve a TEAM title at a higher level at the same trial, he/she may still be a BYE dog for the lower level at that same trial
19. Dogs achieving their Novice-Advanced-Excellent or Versatility titles, may compete in Team at the level in which they have just qualified at the same trial.
