To be considered a Judge in Good Standing, judges are required to:
-
Hold a current Professional Membership
-
Attend a Design Clinic at least once as an active judge
(more are encouraged, but one is mandatory) -
Attend a Judge’s Clinic at least once every two years for each class they are certified to judge (Rally and/or Working)
-
Judge a trial at least once every two years (in-person or virtual) for each class they are certified (NIEA, V/Vx, and/or Working)
If no suitable trials are available, or minimum run numbers cannot be met, video runs may be provided by the CARO Judges Program to satisfy this requirement.
➡ Judges must request this before their certification lapses.
If Requirements Are Not Met
-
If a judge does not meet the above criteria, their judging certification will be revoked.
-
If only the membership has expired, reinstatement occurs after paying the membership fee plus a $15 late fee.
-
If clinics and/or trial experience are missing, the judge must complete the current Judge’s Exam (plus exam fee).
-
If insufficient trials were judged, video reviews may also be required.
-
The Judges Program may include a recertification interview after the exam.
-
If full criteria are not met for more than one year, the judge becomes a Judge Candidate and must restart the certification process to regain judging status.
Judges may attend any scheduled clinics and may request additional clinics by contacting their Regional Director.
